Cirque Launches New Proximity Development Kit

SALT LAKE CITY, UT., February 13, 2020 Cirque Corporation, one of the original inventors of capacitive touch technology, launched today its powerful and highly flexible Proximity Development Kit. Providing better interface solutions using capacitive sensing, the new Prox Development Kit is ideal for experimenting with capacitive proximity.

Based on Cirque’s latest Gen6 platform, the Prox Dev Kit  provides cutting edge capacitive sensing features. The kit includes an Arduino-compatible Teensy 3.2 module and a flexible "breadboard style" main board. These elements make it easy to mock up various experimental designs. The dev kit also includes two different sample proximity sensors to get up and running quickly. The kit hardware can easily be connected to your own sensor designs, when ready to move to the next stage of product development.

Gen6 in Proximity Development Kit:

Cirque’s new Gen6 platform provides unique advantages for proximity sensing systems. Expanded per-channel gain and offset enable careful tuning of complicated sensor designs. In addition, for designs where a traditional x/y tracking touchpad is required, Gen6 supports a hybrid of both prox sensing and mutual cap touchpads, all with a single IC.

The Prox Dev Kit is also supported by Cirque’s TouchTools3 software. This advanced application provides a visual interface for configuring the various aspects of the sensing system. These settings can be saved as projects, then leveraged to embedded code when ready to move forward with product design. Sample project files for the included sensors are pre-installed, making it easy to get up and running quickly. You can download the latest version of TouchTools3 at Cirque.com.

The Prox Dev Kit can be ordered from Cirque.com and will also be available soon from our distribution partners.
