Senior Digital ASIC Design Engineer – Mixed-Signal SoC
Location: Salt Lake City
General Overview:
Responsible for development and implementation of digital and mixed-signal SoC circuits. Contributes to architecture, specifications, layout guidance, production test, characterization, qualification, and FA support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop mixed digital/analog SoC circuits from specification and design through verification and production release.
Assess product level requirements to create IC/block-level circuits. E.g. design CPU and state machine circuits that achieve product-level computational and communications requirements.
SoC production test plans, implementation, and tester support.
SoC design support for internal firmware and software application development
Continuous improvement for personal/ team competency, capabilities, and practices.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
BSEE plus 7 years or MSEE plus 5 years of RTL, mixed-signal and/or SoC circuit design.
SoC architecture and design techniques.
Proficiency with RTL design, standard cell logic, analog block modelling using real number modelling, regression testing, and verification using Verilog, and SystemVerilog.
Define test-plans and verification methodology for module / subsystem verification.
Collaborate with design team in generating test-plans and closure of system-level code and functional coverage.
Work with overall team to achieve system-level mixed-mode verification goals.
Proficiency designing with CPUs, NVM/SRAM integration, CPU peripherals, serial communications, GPIO, PWMs, power management, DFT, BIST, SCAN, CDC, using high density, high reliability, low voltage, and low power techniques.
Collaborate for System-Level and Digital Backend design closure including floor planning, synthesis, DFT, port locations, timing closure, and IP design rules.
Organized, thorough, and detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Self-motivated with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work with a sense of urgency and thrive in a dynamic environment.
Experience in documentation creation and implementation.
Preferred Qualifications and Requirements:
Proficiency with UVM and advanced verification techniques such as coverage driven testing, constrained random, assertions, formal CDC, and formal verification.
Mixed-signal development skills with Verilog-AMS, AMS simulation, schematic instantiated digital circuits and implementation and knowledge of standard cell/synthesized development flows.
Experience modeling circuits and systems in Matlab, Verilog-AMS, and/or real number SystemVerilog.
Simulating and verifying at chip level using analog and/or digital on top methodologies.
Sound understanding of mixed-signal interfacing to IOs and analog blocks.
Knowledge of modulation/demodulation methods and control of AFE/SDM ADC clocking.
Perform or supervise synthesis, static timing analysis, and scan/ATPG as needed.
Support internal firmware and software application development including SoC setup and optimization.
Implement, document and support production test plans with high system-level test coverage. Able to create and manage VCDs for tester implementation.
Initial silicon validation, prototype bring-up, debug, validation, characterization, and module integration support.
Define and lead production IC characterization, qualification and release processes.
Debugging circuit faults and have the ability to identify different discovery approaches, and have knowledge of, which FA approaches are effective. Be able to contribute with third parties to execute on IC-level FA analysis.
