GlideTouch projected capacitance sensor panels are optically clear, touch sensitive panels that can be placed over LCD displays and are designed specifically for integration into point-of-sale (POS) products.
The sensor panel commonly consists of an optically clear ITO electrode grid deposited on a glass substrate and protected by a bonded front layer of hardened glass. This sensing grid is routed to the Cirque touch controller which monitors the capacitive changes in the grid caused by the presence of a tethered pen or a finger. The sensing grid is below the glass touch surface and no protective layers above the glass are necessary resulting in an extremely durable surface, limited only by the characteristics of the glass surface. Cirque has optimized the electrode patterns for maximum linearity and sensitivity.
The Cirque proprietary Pinnacle touch controllers and associated security software algorithms complete a proven production solution for POS products. GlideTouch security solutions use the same projected mutual capacitive touch measurement technology invented by Cirque and used in millions of electronic products around the globe. For POS applications, unique algorithms have been added to provide for tethered stylus/pen operation and a PCI compliant secure solution for integration into pin entry devices (PED’s).
GlideTouch POS solutions use a passive tethered stylus for signature capture applications. The stylus design consists of only a small conductive tip connected by a single shielded conductor to the touch controller. No active components are in the stylus resulting in extreme reliability. The design may be easily customized to meet individual OEM industrial designs.
